Island Packet 379 Features Decades of Refinement
Following decades of refinement, the newly updated Island Packet 379 is an ideal size for a cruising couple as well as a family weekender. The cutter rig with self-tending staysail is well balanced and provides the added power in lighter winds. A solent rig is also offered. What sets this yacht apart from others in its' category include the geared steering system and a full foil keel which combine to create a stable and delightful sailing motion.
Sailor safety is paramount in the design offering wide side decks, well placed hand rails and a recessed foredeck with protective bulwarks. The yacht is outfitted with a large stainless steel bow rail and double life lines attached to 1 1/4 inch stanchions that include quick release stern and side gates. The cockpit is oversized comparatively as well. The stern rails wrap around with integrated seats and there is a large sugar scoop transom and steps with handholds for easy boarding from the water. The decks are molded with non-skid surfaces.
If you are comparing yachts you will notice a marked difference in the Island Packet. It starts with a one-piece integral hull and keel of 100% hand laminated, high modulus knitted fiberglass that is infused with a proprietary pressure-fed system. The fully encapsulatedlead ballast forms a double bottom over the length of the keel... No keel bolts! The interior is a molded structural grid that is bonded with the hull and interior bulkheads to form a solid, unified construction. We offer a 10 year gel-coat and 10 year deck core limited warranty which is an industry exclusive!
Much like the build and the thoughtful deck plan, we have learned a lot about yacht interiors in our decades of experience. Everywhere you look you will find quality materials and construction. The forward owners cabin features a large island berth and direct access to the head. It features a separate shower stall. The stern cabin also features an island berth. it also has a multi-function desk area which can be used as a vanity, navigation station or work station with a swing out seat and a folding bulkhead opens so that this area is joined with the saloon if desired. The main saloon features a versatile dining table that folds and stows when not needed, as do side tables. You will find a fridge and freezer in the U-shaped galley which offers plenty of space and storage for cruising.
