The MKII model of the Catalina 42 series is designed by Gerry Douglas and was first built in 1995 proceeding several hundred of the original Catalina 42 that was built from 1989 to 1995. This model is still produced by Catalina, attesting to its popular design. "Desperado" is a very well cared for example of the Catalina 42 MKII and is new to the market. There are four different cabin versions of the Catalina 42 MKII that have been built. "Desperado" is the two cabin, pullman model which offers a Pullman cabin forward and a large aft quarter cabin on starboard. At our docks here in San Diego, she shows true "pride of ownership"! The yacht is fully outfitted with all the requisite electronics, canvas and eisenglass in great condition. The current owner has continuously upgraded and maintained her. Accommodations
Beginning forward is the owner's stateroom with ensuite head and separate shower stall. There is a large storage compartment forward of the shower stall. The queen size pullman berth is to port with two drawers below the berth. Opposite is a three shelf cabinet, cedar lined hanging locker and five drawer chest. Continuing aft is the salon with generous dinette to port and large table, which lowers to become another berth for two. Opposite is the chart table with swing-out seat, followed by a double settee with breaker panel. Next aft is the second head/shower compartment, accessed from the salon and/or aft cabin. Opposite is the spacious L-shaped galley, with storage lockers, shelves and more aft. The companionway is on the centerline. Interior joinery is varnished teak solids and veneers, with a teak and holly cabin sole. A spacious and well designed interior with more than adequate storage lockers, drawers and compartments, affording the capacities needed for extended live aboard and cruising. Bulkhead and recessed LED lighting, numerous 110Vac outlets, and great ventilation throughout round out this well cared for Catalina.
